I have access to a snap-on scanner. I used it but couldn't find any where in program to program key fob. Any one else have any ideas before I take it to dealer (in couple of weeks).

Try this link. This site may answer the questions about different model FOB's for various years and models. Even shows you how to program them if they will be compatible with your vehicle. This site only references back to 99 models so I would try a 99 model for your 98??? http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2002/08-007-02.htm

Kensai I allready tried that link. That was one of links I posted. I'll wait till middle next week when brother opens his shopback up after vacation shutdown and they get settled and back to work and hit 'em up to see what's up. I'll make sure I have both origanal and new FOB's so he can see difference.

I bought a remote from eBay. I didn't have a problem programming it. Do you still have the owner's manual? I followed the instruction in that. Hope you get programmed!

Spectre, After searching the internet, I have come across this website that specializes only on remote keyless entry remotes oem and aftermarket. You can buy the original OEM remotes from them. If you have the original remotes, but just need the programming, they sell the programming procedures for every OEM remote made for $10. they also have a link in there to have you check to make sure your durango have an onboard programming ability before going further with self programming. http://www.factorykeylessremotes.com/PROGRAMMING.html If their programming works, you may want to share the programming procedures for the 98 model. One thing I am not sure of is compatibility with different model remotes on the same vehicle. So that remote you bought that is not physically the same as your original, it may or may not work. You can always call the folks at the website I mentioned above and they can answer your questions. Just did some more digging on that website. They have a legend that shows whether or not you can self program the remotes. Unfortunately, the 98 model durangos MUST be programmed from dealership only. they show 98 durangos in red which means dealer programming only. If it were blue, you can program yourself, if it is green, you can program but must use the assistance of an existing working remote.
