Default New member and in a hell of a bind....

Hey everyone, I am an owner of a 1996 red Dodge Avenger that decided to have some electrical problems today, ill paste what i posted on another forum (a football forum, heh)....

I came out of my friend's house and noticed that my Stop Lamp (three backlights-one on each side of the back and one on the spoiler) were on....however all the doors were closed, trunk and front hood were all closed and my regular carlights were turned off....my buddy and I were able to locate the fuse that controls the stop lamp and removed it until I drive the car again so the battery doesnt die. When we put the fuse back in...same problem....when we pressed the emergency signal where it flashes....it actually flashed, when we pressed it again to stop, the lights remained on....

IF anyone has an idea on how to fix this and fast please help me....

Thanks everyone

Matt

sounds like the stoplamp switch is out of adjustment or bad down at the brake pedal itself. look under the dash for a black square looking elec device and try to move it toward the brake pedal, this should turn the stoplamps off.
