Default Tranny cooler installed

I live in El Paso, TX right now and a friend of mine just had the transmission on his call burn up on him right after his warranty ran out, so I thought it would be a good idea to spend 60 bucks instead of 3000. I didn't use the zip strips that came with the cooler to mount it, what i did is use some 1/8 inch thick brackets and mounted it with the bolts that hold the bottom of the AC condenser on. This is really stable and then took the foam that came with it and but that on the backside of the cooler to protect the condenser. I also wanted to be able to mount a 10" aux fan in front of the condenser later to help out my AC and radiator in this heat in stop and go traffic, which is why I mounted the cooler so low, this also lets the airdam puch air into it. My pictures are'nt that great so if anyone has any questions post away!

smart move, but keep and eye on it. having that low you might pick up some raod hazards and smash some fins.

I am following the same idea for my 2005 Dakota. Cannot hurt for only $60. Too bad other additional parts can't be that price. lol.

The 10" fan I'm putting in the left over space above my tranny cooler is 60 bucks plus the AC relay and thermostat control, so it will be on with the AC or whenever the radiator needs the extra cooling.

I got the Tow package with my truck, which comes with a larger tranny cooler. One thing I have done to help with heat is replace the fluid with Amsoil ATF fluid. Generally I have seen (depending on vehicle) between a 20 and 40 degree decrease in tranny temp by just changing to Amsoil ATF fluid.

All brands of ATF4 are synthetic. Chrysler made ATF4 and then liscensed it to other companies to be made. ATF 4 is the only approved ATF for our trucks. Amsoil then got it liscensed from chrysler to make "their" synthetic oil. By the way, how much larger is your stock tranny cooler, mine is a plate and fin type rated to 11,000 lbs.
