That sounds like a pretty good price! Just be sure to send them to a reputable place. What kind of warranty do they offer on the coating?

dave

Oops, just re-read your post - TTI is going to coat them for you? For $250? I'd do it.

Their are two main rewards to coating headers 1) increased HP and Torque due to less friction 2) reduce engine compartment heat because more heat is kept inside the exhause system. There are also side benifits directly related to those to advantages. The coating should also prolong the life of headers, protecting them from corrosion.

Mine are ceramic coated. If you have the Hemi Bucks to spend on coating it's all good.

TopBanna3767,

Coated headers is for girlie men. They look pretty but do nothing else. Save your $250 for a down on something really important for performance like the Superchips programmer or Jet 2 chip. When was the last time you've seen a high-performance race car with coated headers? Oh, sure, the rich guys got them, but there is no evidence that they actually help performance. If they say the do, it's maybe .000001 of a second. Sure, they DO help with the rusting of the pipes. Ok, here: my 1971 GTX ran the same quarter mile speed against a similar 4 speed Roadrunner with coated headers. His was prettier, but no faster. Sure his will last longer -- gawd, I hope they SHOULD for the $400 he spent on the dumb things. Mine were $88 for the same uncoated header...

Sorry, but I think it's all marketing...

OK, ok, ok. Would I do it if I had extra money? Yes, but ONLY for looks, NOT for performance.

Ok, well, here we go, again .

I think there is some research that indicates they will help your headers to last longer, and reduce heat in the engine compartment by keeping more heat in the header pipes. But, it may depend on what type of coating is on them. Ceramic coating would, it seems, certainly keep more heat inside the pipe and going out the exhaust. Other coatings, maybe, maybe not. It would, at least to me, be worth it just to help prolong the life of the headers if I was planning on keeping my car a long time, whichI hope to do. JMHO.

Ok, I may have been a bit strong. Sorry.

Not everyone is a gearhead like me and many guys like looks over performance -- but I need to rethink anyway -- the technology today is so good much of this stuff has both performance and good looks.

So my hats off to everyone who does what they want and enjoys it. Never mind the old farts like me that grumble at change while you younger guys fly past me with prettier cars... LOL.

I need to take a PR class from Dave...

You guys kill me

Don't do it for looks cause you can't see-em. Maybe you can sneak a peak of the collector if’n their long tubes.

well i do have 250 burning a hole in my pocket but im really doing it for heat to maybe squeek out as much as possible heat does thermally reduce hp production again a lot of factors come into play speed ,back pressure etc, plus there is the weight diffence pick up again not much but a little ,eventually im gonna add ram air fiberglass scope more weight more performance every little bit helps .im not that young im 36 but young enough i guess to skirt the lines between old timer and new guy .well since nothing to negitive has come up ive mailed them out so well see how it looks when im done looks arent important to me ,but if its an added benfiet who am i to complain besides itll look nicer as im passing the 328 bmw on the highway
