I've ran w/o mine for months now. I gave my top hat to a friend in need so I don't even store it in the garage now.

Not sure what the cure is for the plastic looking manifold. Some have tried swapping w/the SRT8. Not sure if any were sucessful, there are subtel differences, enought that it makes the trade difficult.

I've been thinking about dressing up the top of the engine with wire loom covers and some paint - Dupicolor has some interesting products, and then having a clear cover made to show them off. Then it dawned on me. If I dress it up, I won't need the clear cover. Duh!!! It's surprising what about $100 of dressup items will do for an engine bay.

Post up some pics after you dress your baby up...Just curious what it looks like. Could anywone ever figure out why they would put an orange colored cover under the hood of a top bananna colored car? Kind of look like the builder of that part was color blind. I mean its flashy and everything but just doesn't look right..

I'm still in the looking at and stoking my not-as-red-as-it-used-to-be beard phase but things on on my short list are colored wire loom covers (spiral and mesh), painting the fuel rails. I'm still chewing on colors to set off the engine and dark blue body color. Maybe some rerouting to eliminate the rat's nest effect. Chrome is always good. I'll keep you folks posted and get you some pics when I get started.

Since I got the R/T with the Road and Track package, and not the Daytona, I didn't even get the orange cover. Just the grey one. Actually, molding a clear piece to replace the main cover body would be a nice touch for a car show. It would have the effect of the top panel with the logo and "HEMI" lettering floating over the engine. Hmmmmmmm.

I had to laugh when the "two guys garage" took a few minutes to explain what the top hat was for.

They pulled the top hat off the 5.7 and turned it over and said it was "to damper noise" as they pointed to the thin layer of foam on the underside of the top hat. Wow these DCX guys though of everything... ROFL.

The orange cover is nostalgic of the old 60’s and 70’s air cleaners. They always came in HEMI Orange with the V8's

I like the cover except for the heat it traps under it.

You should see classic MOPAR muscle HIP colors and the hemi orange. Imagine a sublime green engine interior with a hemi orange 426 in there. It could look like a technicolor yawn at times.

DCX is just paying homage to the Hemi lineage and their roots.

That may be true but why hide the heart of the beast like they were ashamed of it. Why not paint the block and mold intakes that color and let it speak for itself? I'll bet you'll find the bottom line is the reason for the existance of most of the pet peeves expressed in this forum (hood struts, paint quality . . .)
