RE: HELP with tranny ID
actually band adjustment is recomended every 24,000 miles or 24 months. I adjust mine every time I replace fluid and filter. 1994 models are equiped with a 32RH, 36RH, OR 37RH 3-SPD. The 32RH is used with 3.9, and 5.2 engines. The 36RH is used for heavy duty 5.2, and 5.9 engines. The 37RH is used for the V-10 and cummins turbo diesel. 1995 models are equiped with a 42RH, 46RH, or 47RH four-speed transmission. The 42RH is used with 3.9 enginesin 4x2 1500 models. The 46RH is used with 3.9, 5.2, and 5.9 engines. the 47RH is used with V-10 and cummins turbo diesel. 1996 and later models use a 42RE, 46RE, OR 47RE 4-SPD with an electronic governor. there applications are about the same as the 95 models.
Now adjustments go like this:
1994 Front band: torque screw to 72 inch-pounds,then backit off 2-1/2 turns then without letting the screw move torque the locking nut to 30 foot pounds.
1994 Rear band: 32/42RH torque screw to 72in. lbs. back it off 4 turns torque locking nut to 25 ft. lbs -----36/37/46/47RH torque screw to 72 in.lbs. then back it off 2 turns torque lock nut to 25 ft.lbs.
1995 Front band :42RH torque to 72 in. lbs. back it off 2-1/4 turns
46RH torque to 72 in. lbs back it off 2-7/8 turns
47RH torque to 72 in. lbs. then back it off 1-7/8 turns
1995 Rear band : 42RH torqur to 72 inch pounds then back it off 4 turns
46RH same torque but only back it off 2 turns
47RH sameagain back this one off 3 turns
adjust all front locking nutsat 30 foot pounds.
adjust all rear locking nutsat 25 foot pounds.
1996 and Later : all Front bands torque at 72 in.lbs then loosen 2-7/8 turns
all Rear bands torque at 72 in. lbs and loosen 2 turns
all Front locking nuts torque at 30 foot pounds
all Rear locking nuts torque to 25 ft. lbs.
I hope this helps be sure to loosen them back off to spec or you will have problems. And you must hold the adjusting screw still while you tighten the locking nut..... GOOD LUCK Happy Trucking Mopar-Johhny,
