hi there everyone any body have any idea what kind of horse power is the max you can add before serious mods to tranny needs to be done ?and what kind of mods to tranny are needed to boost the hp level meaning like coolers or are we talking about removing tranny and adding larger gears etc .basicly i gues my bottom line question is how far can you push the tranny hp wise before it becomes a problem.anybody know what tranny he srt8 has maybe if there the same itll give an idea what the max hp might be,well i just checked the dodge website and answered part of my own question the srt and the daytona have the same tranny so im assuming the car will at least handle upto 425 hp and 430 torque .any additional thoughts.

There has been a lot of guesses out there as to the power handling ability of the W5A580, the transmission that handles all the new Hemi engines. In the old days, I could tell you a lot about the 727 Torqueflite, because it handled the 383, 400, 440, 440 police, and 426 Hemi cars. I know racers think they have the market on beating up a transmission they don't -- I'd turn my attention to what's going on in the new Hemi police cars. You want a brutal existence? Try a police package car. Check around what is being beefed up in the new Charger squads. A good five star dealer might know, but the car is so new, I don't think anyone has had time to find out what is the weak link yet.
