You can look at it several ways because there are so many different ways to go nowadays. For me, I'm awaiting to put full OBDII headers with hi-flow cats into my 3/4 stock, 1/4 Magnaflow system. SuperMaxx stainless headers would certainly change my now MDS handled exhaust. Then, I'm back to square one when those headers go on. But in all we do, YES the stock system handled the MDS system the best that I've heard of.
Right now, I'm tired of being the expensive guinea pig. I'm waiting for some other sucker, er, owner, to sink untold dollars into a new car just to make it the way he likes it. Then when it doesn't pass the sniffer, you have to buy a new stock system again anyway... LOL

Have fun figuring it out!

try that see what you think! this guy has headers let be tell you the sound isnt that much different

I just sold my GT Mustang and purchased a 2006 Charger R/T loaded and with the extra 10 HP on the Hemi. Well no compaison, Charger is the best and for the exhaust, try this. I have spent a lot of money in my time on exhaust and foud out with this new Charger all you need to do is have a muffler shop take that huge Resators out and replace with straight pipes and the car is great.
With a K&N cold air induction and with the resnators off I picked up 200 RPM. This Charger will scream now. I put a 373. ring & pinion gear in the Ford GT and this Charger has a 282 and this Charger will still kick the GT butt. Old man just sharing some things about some of the cars I own. Wayne

Hi, Wayne, and welcome to the board. I wonder how my exhaust would be - I put the Magnaflow full cat back system on. Wonder how it would be without the underneath mufflers and just straight pipe back to the rear, Magnaflow resonators.

Hi Wayne, welcome to the forum. You said you bought the 2006 Charger R/T with the extra 10HP Hemi -- does that mean you have the Daytona model? The Daytona has the touch extra 10HP over the Charger R/T with different intake and exhuast, however both use the 2.82 rear gears. Just wondering. I have the Daytona and also have tried several exhaust options, but have had problems getting the Humm and Drone out of the cabin when the MDS kicks in on the highway, which seems to me worse in the Daytona than the R/T from reading several posts. How is it for you inside on the highway when the MDS kicks in?

Oh, sure Baldy, egg me on -- I need very little to Go-Man-go! LOL

The car is rock solid at 95 and I'd love to travel like that in the open areas, but the fellas with the badges and red lights might have other ideas, and I'd rather have my money go to more gas!

Even Montana has a speed limit now (to keep their federal road funding). Darn.

The Dealer had to bring this Charger in and said it was the R/T Group with the extra 10 hp like the Daytona, but it is not the Daytona. It is black and it had the chrome grill, but I purchased a honey cone that was black and installed it and it really looks great, kinda like the SRT8. I do not have a humm on the road. Talking to Complete Care Auto experts that has the Dyno, they told me a lot of these Chargers are set up very rich on the fuel.
With the cold intake and the resonators off this charger it really leaned it out. I also have a new 350Z and that 6 want even stay close to the charger and it has a 373 rear end. My wife drives the Grand Cherokee Limited with the Hemi and it also has the 373 rear end with AWD, but she can't come close to the Charger. I put a lot of money into the Mustang GT, motor rear end ect. and Gentleman, I tell you with all the cars I have purchased over the years this is the best I have every driven. I did give a lot of money for it, and it is loaded, but it was worth it.
Thanks for the questions, syswayne

Wow a real car guy. Nice rides too. Good to have you aboard.

I think the dealer is full of beans, and he's just trying to tell you something that isn't (imagine that!). From the factory the standard (stock) Charger R/T is 10 HP UNDER the Daytona models, not the same, but it really doesn't matter, 10HP is pretty miniscule anyway -- 340 is the standard rating for the R/T, where 350 is the rating for the Daytona models.

You are right about the leaning out -- I wonder if that is my 3rd gear fall-off problem under acceleration. Maybe I need to richen up. I haven't had it dyno'd yet, especially with my current set-up. Good idea.

Enjoy the site!

I got my Magnaflow 17977 at MagnaflowPlanet.com for $461.19 and Free Shipping. They had the best price I could find and still have a valid warranty. Heres the link http://magnaflowplanet.com/product.php?productid=6518?tw2

Actually, the dealer is correct on this one. The Road and Track Package (or Group) is has the same running gear as the Daytonas. This means that an R/T with R&T has the same engine, exhaust, suspension, tires and wheels, performance seats and so on. What you don't get is the special colors, graphics, honeycomb grille and number badge. My 06 came without the aero stuff too but I think that those were added to the package in 07 (someone correct me if I'm wrong here).

Good choice if you want to keep it under the radar .

There are slight differences between a RT with the R/T package but not enough to yell about.

All this stuff is great but honestly electric cutouts are probably the most under rated and cheapest ways to a great exhaust. I have a 2007 V6 Charger that I just had a single cutouts installed to and it sounds like a 1960's Dodge Charger. It is one of the badest Chargers in Miami, I can tell you that. I had a Daytona Charger meet me at a light and the guy reved up his engine as if he was showing off... I smiled at the guy, roared my exhaust and that was a rap... I'm telling you these things will blow you away. The idle is such a beautiful rumble, I find myself driving with the door open sometimes just to listen. The best part about it is by the touch of a button you can close the cutout and go back to your stock exhaust, in case a cop is around. It's loud, it's deep, and it's the badest rumble you can get out of a Charger. That's just my 2 cents....

Same differences as with the Daytonas. I've drove the base R/T, the R/T w R&T and the Daytona and the last two are pretty much identical from the driver's seat. The tighter suspension and upgraded seats alone are worth the extra bucks for the R&T package or the Daytona. (My wife was in definite agreement about the seats) The base R/T is no slouch by any means but the upgrade really isn't that much more.

My choice of the R/T with R&T rather than a Daytona had more to do with getting tired of being hassled by the local constabulary every time school takes a break. My wife has an '03 300m Special that came from Chrysler with a spoiler and tuned exhaust installed and the boys in blue keep thinking we're high school kids in a tuner car. You should see the jaws drop when I roll down the window and they see my "silver highlights".

I figured that with the Hemi, drawing less attention would be better so I went for something a little more stealthy. It turned out the local PD had bought a base R/T in the same color as mine for an unmarked car. After they tinted the windows to hide the red and blues, the cars look like twins except for a couple of small details that you have to know about to pick out. I don't even get a second look now. There were also a couple of options that I wanted that weren't in the Daytonas in local stock but the dealer was able to do a dealer trade to get my car car with the right color and options and was ready for delivery in 3 days.

I had looked at an SRT8 but the dealers up North who had them were holding out for speculators to pay the $10+K side sticker rather than someone who would use the car for it's intended purpose.

In the end, I guess it boils down to getting a car that best fits your needs and desires (and the occasional fantasy).

Have a good holiday!!
