I got that... but when I go from almost on (where the idiot lights are on) to actually turn the ignition on.. the skid marks disappear again. Should I keep holding it once I hear the chime and start the car then release?

Marty, I guess your mention of the 18" tires, 4300 pounds and better traction control was lost on some. I'm not sure I can agree with those looking to simply smoke their tires as a statement of how much performance they have in their unit. I remember spending hundreds of dollars on the technology of the day, ladder bars, 4 link etc.. to keep the back end down and the torque from my HP 396 pushin the unit to the end of the track, not sitting in one place or trying to make a 60' black strip. Sure I'll take my pass with the chlorine bottle, to heat the tires and get the most of the run, but that was a two foot burn. When I get in the bottom of my throttle.. all I want to see is the lane strip going by. If your still disappointed with your unit, and that it hasn't lived up to the goal of stripping 125 dollar a piece tires off of 500 dollar rims, I'll trade your unit for my 68 Malibu, and you can go down the track smoking nose to tail driving your audience to adoration, and I'll still enjoy myself far better.. waiting at the finish line with the money in hand. I've waited this long to voice my disdain for the whole subject, certain that few would appreciate its value or intent.

I think what phatboyd was missing was to start the car and immediately hold the ESP, not just turn the key to "on". The idiot lights will blink for 3-4 seconds when you first fire the engine and if you hold it in you will hear an additional chime a few seconds later. This, many say, reduces the rate of the torque control ESP has, and there has been mixed reviews on whether this creates a noticeable effect or not. I think it may have more effect on earlier birthdates for the car, and newer cars have different programming for "HAL", the internal brain. Myself, it seems to have a slight effect, but who knows, each time I use it, the tires have less and less grip as well. Also, as you put miles on both the trannie and "HAL", they will adjust to your driving style and selfadjust for max performance and mileage. Many think there is a miracle 3,000 mile mark, as well as a 10000 mile mark. I'm at 2500 and my TB #3034 was born on 1/12/06. 2006 Daytona Top Banana #3034 born 1/12/06 Flowmaster minus the cans true dual exhaust K&N CAI Aircharger Flashpaq Superchip w/ latest update 20% tint dealer installed "reverse" trunnk spacers
