Looks great, they said it could have 600-650 horsepower

I do not think that is an 08, just my opinion. Other than the hood there really is no difference. The other thing that looks odd is the wheels, why does the front rims look like 17"?? Brakes would never fit inside those rims! My guess, it is a GEN III with a GEN IV drivetrain and a special hood to give the new engine clearance. They are just testing the drive train. Or, it is just some guys car with a new aftermarket hood.....

Don't plan to see a better interior
Basically, this is one of the few times I agree with Matt. I dont expect much differences in the newer 08 model Viper. They'll push the HP up a notch to beat out the Corvette....and they'll probably lighten up the body some.....but they most likely wont fix the gearing problem.....thus letting the Corvette spank it once again. Remember, there's been rumors of a supercharged Z06 coming out....and it wouldnt surprise me at all if the 08 model did in fact come like that. If it does, you're talking an even match HP wise...or perhaps better.
I think the big factor for the Viper will be how much longer it continues to be produced. The rumor is circulating that the SRT-10 Ram is going to be discontinued....so that will hurt money wise....despite being a popular truck. I would love to have an SRT-10 Ram.
I'm not trying to be negative, but the facts are facts.....the Viper is one of the nastiest, sweetest rides ever built.....but DC needs to get with the program....and make this Viper the feared ride it used to be....and if that means pushing it into the Supercar cost level....then maybe its time they did that.
1. The car pictured is NOT the 2008 Viper. It is a GEN III with a diamondback hood. It very well could have the GEN IV engine under the hood for testing.
2. There will be some small body changes, hood design could be one of them. Slightly different headlights, badging and a new set of wheels will be offered. The big changes will be in the chassis and suspension (over all lighter that GEN III chassis and suspension).
3. The other big change the GEN IV will bring is the engine of course.
-It will be a V10 ( I love it when I get somthing right)
-It very well may slip back a few cubic inches (less than 505)
-The heads will be completly redesigned, along with intake and new cam/lifter specs
-Results will be 600HP max. Rumors of a 150HP jump are just people with wishful thinking.
-You may see a slightly larger gear ratio, but I doubt anything higher than 3.54, probably something in the 3.23 range. So many people harp on the gears in the Viper. The people who do are ususally ones who have never driven a Viper. If you slap a 4.10 in there getting the car to hookup and keep going straight is a NIGHTMARE. 0-60 times would suffer due to not being able to apply the power w/o wheel spin and the extra shift required. 1/4 mile times would be about the same. The 3.05 gear car will begin to pull hard on the 4.10 at the end of the track. Lets also remember, the Viper is built not just for the 1/4 but tracks as well. Bigger gears is more shifting in and out of corners which takes time and slows the lap times.

CAAP will shutdown following 8/31/06 and will not reopen until 1/2/07. Rumors are this is the Firepowers date and the Viper will begin in April 2007...
New hood (For venting)...
New ZC platform...
New skin...
Should be sleeker...
Whole new front end that is more menacing and aggressive...
Will be lighter...
Still under 100k...
Possible cheaper version (Could be Firepower or SRT-10 & SRT-10 ACR)
The five '08 Viper mules that were built earlier this year, all had the 8.4L V10...
Possible Gen 2 Curves... (Twin hump on roof)
Possible Spy Photo: (Some say Firepower, but I say Viper)
This is simply a test mule... Engine, powertrain, hood... NOT the new body...
I have another pic of this test mule in the spy pics... I'll ask for permission from the photo taker to post it...
