What do you think?
I am new hear and posted this in the newbie section deal and they told me to bring it hear. I own a 1984 dodge ramcharger, prospector model.
Heres my question:
Alright I was planning on doing some work on the truck but it wouldn't start. So I jumped it, it stalled while the cables were disconnected. It wouldn't turn over. I have a brand new battery and leads, I used a volt meter in and had in DC and it read about 10 at idle; no gas. From the battery, 13-14 with a rev and thats on the altenator too. That also looks new and doesn't look like it needs attention. The wiring on this truck is absolutely horrible. I mean it is horrible a batteryexploded on the previous owner, the truck doesn't look to have a single wire without a splice. Its a poor job at that. My question is if it won't even crank over but starts right up when its connect and the battery and alenator are fine what could it be?Plus when you turn it over when its connected to the termails to be jumped, it almost seems if it wants to start after you let up on the key is that normal? Any one tried to re-wire the whole thing from scratch? I mean all new componets...and where could I find those? Or maybe how much for a pro do it? price wise
