Do any of you have what I have been told by my Dealer is a "computerized hesitation" from stop to a quick accelration in Drive????? Any info on any fixes in future..?? Thanks John from NC

Just got my 06 Magnum R/T and
it's the first thing I noticed.
I'm surprised no one replied if it is infact "normal".

I too have the same problem. There is actually a post concerning this on the first page of the forums. I think it says "Please read asap". I just bought my 06 charger srt-8 two days ago and am having that issue in "D" from a dead stop through first and second gear.

Have the same problem. I believe it happens when I manually select 1st gear also. it's actully dangerous. The milliseconds you lose while it hesitates could be needed trying to get out of the way of someone comming at you! This is a safety issue, too, to say the least. My srt is in the dealership now, and so far was told by them that it's normal. So that means they don't know.
I blew a air-conditioning hose also. The compressor is now no good, too. Has anyone had trouble with their AC hoses in these cars lately?

Dodge knows about the problem on earlier models maybee yours can have new software installed. My car was built after this with the new software and the problem still happens once in a while. Dealer is looking into a fix for me.

I posted a similiar question the other day about engine hesitation and was given the suggestion to unplug the battery for about 4 hrs, the computer should reset itself and "fix" the problem. I have not tried it yet, but hope it works... or my next stop is the dealership. Bought my SRT8 Charger in July, so it's only 3 mos old.

There is only one fix (and no... it's not disconnecting the battery... LOL someone actually said that???) and it is the TSB flash for the transmission. Essentially if you put your SRT8 into autostick mode and it DOES NOT auto-upshift then you need the flash. Once flashed with the correct TSB (some dealers are using the wrong one still) your autostick mode will not work as it did before, the car WILL upshift for you in autostick. This is just a good way to test and see if you have the right flash. Then when you're back in "D" under WOT your 1-2 shift issue should be eliminated permanently. My thread is still somewhere on this forum from when my car was used as the beta test car for this TSB and also for the 07 programming.

Hmm, I've been wondering about this. I traded in my '06 R/T for a '07 SRT8 less than 2 mos ago. I've gone easly on it with only a few short bursts. What I've noticed is a (hesitation or) lack of downshifting as I'm used to. 'Course, once it hits the power band, whoa. I still have barely over a thousand miles on it and have wondered if this behavior is preprogrammed to a certain mileage, but I doubt it. The low end torque is amazing but not what I would expect when rolling into the throttle (unless they gave me a diesel chip :-)).

This is different behavior than was mentioned below (auto-upshift) but would it be the same fix? Can't be normal...
