Lookie what I found on hhpracing.com

Direct quote from their site:

"GS Motorsports ESP Torque Management & Fan Mod Kit
SKU: HMIESPFAN

This is a very specific mod and only affects the intended items with a calculated result.
Benefits:

No Torque management (exact shifts no lag or delay)

No Traction control (100% freedom to Fry the tires or uninterrupted acceleration)

Low temp fan control for a much cooler running temp yielding much better overall performance

Race ESP Mod:

Completely deletes Traction control (esp.) and Torque management on shifts points. This mod is worth nearly a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile on the stock lx platform with No Codes. No more pauses between shifts and no traction hold back from the ECU at the flip of a switch.

This Mod will not turn off or affect the ABS system.

Fan Control:

This mod Brings the fans on early keeping max temps on the motor down 10% or on the 195 degree thermostat at cruising speed( no codes) and is very effective in city driving or at the drag strip. The kit is a pre made kit that you can install in your driveway in about 1/2 an hour and will result in you having the options mentioned on the fly via 2 small switches in a discrete location with in reach with no holes having to be drilled.

PRICE: $229.95 "

Any one out there tried this yet... ?

I called GSM in Jan. he said it helps the shifting and he said it turned off the tc on the SRT8 but you can do that already in those models.

So, "the beat goes on"? Or is this a viable deal for the R/Ts?

Funny as it seems that the site made it seem this mod works for all LX platform cars. Magnum, Charger and 300C.

Seems we all forget that a SRT-8 is the same car with a larger stroke and bore correct. Much like the small block Chevy that ran 265 to 400 ci from the same block.

I have seen some oppertunity for all of us to use some of the parts bin items to make our non-SRTs perform better. The injectors would be a great place for those of us running programmers and nitros to try. Also I saw a bit on Speed Channel about the better coax speakers being a direct swap for the factory "boston" ones...

The engines are similar, but apparently, the factory computers are a bit different in the R/T vs. Daytona vs. SRT-8. Without the programmer, it appears that it is possible to turn off the ESP on the Daytonas and SRT-8s, but not the R/Ts. Doesn't make sense, but that seems to be the real world for these things.

I also have a Daytona and I still experience a second gear bog with the ESP light showing it is off.... Can't do a good burn out with that ESP so maybe this kit would fix it. I also have the superchips and need to play around with custom settings to see if I can find a loop hole

I went ahead and ordered this for S&G's. Once I get it I'll be sure to report.

Ok, I received this mod and I think I will be installing it this long weekend. I am a little nervous as it entails cutting into the factory wiring to completely eliminate the traction control signal. My worry is future dealer visits as the kit calls for cutting the main signal wire and crimping in the switch wires. I am planning on changing the design and using a male and female insulated spade connector so I can disconnect the switch at will in the future. I will update after I install both with performance changes and with any install tips I come up with after I'm done.

Zedd, we will all be waiting "with baited breath" to see how the install goes, and the results. Good luck!

GS Motorsports Kit ESP & Fan Mod Kit. Status:Installed

I have mixed feelings over this one guys and girls. The kit itself is 'ok'.

Quality of the wiring harnesses is top notch.

Quality of instructions, fair+. The pictures were fairly low res and didn't translate well. The written instructions were good so it was no problem. However, I am an electrical contractor and also have 25 years experience modding vehicles, YMMV.

Quality of switches and or crimp on electrical connectors, poor. The only exception to this was that they included heat shrink butt splices for any connections under the hood for a true waterproof connection. The switches and connectors for inside the vehicle are poor. The crimp on female spade connectors to be added for the switches were of a type that even with my service truck sitting next to me with 50k worth of tools on it, I had no crimper that would have worked reliably. I could have just crushed them with pliars or vice grips but I don't do second rate connections. I ended up using insulated connectors off my truck of a standard type and much higher quality. The switches are very cheap. I will be re-engineering the switches come next week when I have access to my parts suppliers.

Now the important part... Performance! Does it work? Yes!! I only drove it around for a few minutes after warming up but with the switch off it is obviously finally completely controlling the ESP. I got on it and left a 20-30 foot decent burn out and it didn't bog when I shifted to second. My main concern is when I hit the switch, the ESP/BAS light comes on which I expected from the install instructions. BUT... My ABS light comes on as well which is not mentioned. The instructions and the website claim no change to ABS funtion but my light definately comes on. I tried to lock up the tires but wasn't in a good safe place to try very hard so I can't tell for sure.

My preliminary revue is mixed. The kit is expensive for what it does. The ESP portion is just a switch cut into a wire on the ABS/ESP controller harness under the hood. The fan mod supplies a good quality relay and supporting hardware so that you can run your cooling fans whenever you wish. The kit also included a new thermostat which I did not install.

Zedd, we'll all look forward to hearing more, especially how the ABS might be affected. It is my understanding that, in fact, the ESP and ABS are, somehow, inter-related. So, no matter what GS says, this is something that needs to be explored further.

Thanks for going the "extra mile" in installing this and giving us a "blow-by-blow" description.

Yes, thank you for the info. Good reporting! I read in an earlier post that said you could take out the #17 fuse and it would disable the ESP, but also disables the ABS. Anyone investigate this? Sounds like Zedd took it on the chin if this is true...

Zedd, you mentioned that you don't "bog" anymore going from 1st to 2nd, after your modification installed. I have a K&N and Jet 2 chip installed, have NO bog in 1st to 2nd, but I have a lull, or flat spot in 3rd... do you think the spacer would take away my lull?

With my GT-Pro with the 4300 pounds dialed in, (w/200 pounds for me), she runs a 14.07 at 105.6 in "D" (ESP on).

I'm just trying to learn from others to make mine faster...
