Default Need for more HP!!

Hi,
I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab 3.7L V6. 6-speed Manual. I am very dissapointed in the V6 Power. The throttle body respons sucked, so I added a cold air intake. This made some differance. On EBAY you can buy REDLINE chips, anybody has experience with them? Does anybody knows anything else to improve HP.

From what I heard... If you actually buy a redline chip or any aftermarket NONE tested compression tweaker/Governor chip you might as well take a dump in your coolant. Its not safe and if its some kind of no name brand or if you can't find it in a package you're just wasting your money. I could be wrong... so don't quote me on it.

What sold me on it was the 21mpg on the sticker. I figured I drive 50/50 City/Hwy, so maybe 19mpg. Hell, I get 16-17mpg and not that much power. If I had to do it again, I would get a V8, but honestly, you are only adding like 20 horses or so I dont know how much better that would be. What I do know is that if you change the gears from 3.21 to 4.10, you get more get go. At least that would feel like you have more power.
My wife's mustang is a 3.8L with the 3.73. You feel the take off (yes I know is lighter than a Ram), I'm just saying that adding gears will help.

hello there i own a 2002 v6 manual w/ 4.10 gears in it. the main reason i added the gears was for highway driving. in town its a little better but not a huge diffrence. i am not sure what to tell you on this problem but if you are looking for a faster off the line increase the gears would help a little but i couldnt justify the cost for that purpose.

2002ramman, is that true? Man I thought the take off would be better. Everyone says that 4.10 and 4.56 make you burn rubber. I guess it doesnt on the V6. Damn.

that's why you don't buy a v6 when you're looking for power and speed, especially not on a full size pickup anyway.

It's not thw Horsepower, the V6 makes good horsepower, the main differences is the tq. numbers. That is what gets you going, HP is what keeps you going. The V8's obviously have a lot more potential, but the 6er still can make for an enjoyably ride with simple mods. I said simple, not cheap...

I am wanting to go up to the 4.10 on mine. Would anyone happen to have a part number or brand or anything? Im stepping into this one foot at a time and getting everything right so it works and no money wasted. For that matter anyone know the ring size on a 05 1500 v6 6-spd? That would get me a start!
