Default big problem with 92 stealth

Ok so my car was doing great up untill about three months ago. Then one day I took it out to go get something to eat right down from my house just long enough to get the motor up to temp... Turned the car off ran inside picked up the food and came out tried to start the car but it would not fire. The motor turned over but just would not start. Finally I pumped the clutch a couple times and the car started. I just thought maybe the neutral switch was going bad easy fix didn't worry about it. After the car started I then pulled out of the parking lot and began to drive off. I got through about third gear and the car suddenly shut down. I pushed the clutch in as soon as it died so that i would coast as far as i could before coming to a stop. I tried starting the car right after I came to a stop but it would fire just like back in the parking lot. So I waited for the motor to cool. Tried again and it started right up. I then floored it to gain as much speed as possible and again the car quit. Rolled to a stop agian. Now this happened several more times before i was able to get the car home. Now I have begun the process of debugging the problem. While trying to fix the problem I have replaced the MAF senser, coil, distributer which has the cam and crank position sensors inside, plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, and battery and none of these things have worked. I am coming to the conclusion that it has to be an electrical problem because after the car quits the EGR valve selinoid makes a loud ticking noise and the voltage varies as the the selinoid ticks. The ticking will only go on for about 5 to 10 seconds and then quits like its on a timer that is controlled by the ECU. I have done various voltage checks on fuses and on the ECU itself for power loss to see if the computer was loosing power and making the car shut down. All these test were negative. I never found the computer to be loosing power at any time even after the car would quit. I really need some help on this becouse i'm running out of ideas so if any one has any knowledge on the situation or has had similar symptoms with their stealth please lend a hand. Thanks for reading this whole thing. Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say.

Default RE: big problem with 92 stealth

Considering all of the other things you have checked and/or replaced, I would tend to believe that your ECU is starting to go bad. The ECU was made with sub-par capacitors and are prone to leak over time. When this happens, the ECU gets varied voltages from the caps. and can cause all sorts of intermittant running problems. Do you have a SOHC engine, I ask because you mention the distributer??

Here is instructions for removing the ECU. Stealth316
Around the capacitor pictured on that site, you will normally see some black, crusty looking stuff that is indicitive to leaking capacitors.

When I had my ECU's rebuilt, I used ECM to go. They were prompt, have a test car on site and were very helpful when I called them. It will cost around $250 for a repair, providing not too much damage has been caused by the leakage. Hope this helps.
