well i took it to the track finally and all it could pull off was a 17.2 with a .137 reaction time. i was told that i should be runing 15.3's plus i have a cold air intake and a couple other small mods. do i need a rebuild or what is wrong?

You now a had the same problem and i didn´t worry about it, i just took the engine out and i thought, ok it is already out blah order je pistons, the blah order ........,........ and finally i have my 13´s car
to be quite exact 13.18 with street tires and 92 octane gas, naturally aspirated
haha um thanx i think. but im a little confused so what exactlly do u want me to do? and also i ahve 108765miles on my engine. how are u running that quick what parts do u have?
First off, I don't think you need a rebuild. Was this your first time to the track?? Did you do the shifting yourself or did you let the car shift on its own?? You could probably shave 1/2 a second off your time with just some practice. What was your 60' time, 1/8 mile time, trap speed??
A good running manual transmission Stealth runs a 15+ quarter mile time. Your auto transmission is about a second slower, so you really aren't that far off from where you should be, considering your car is almost completely stock.
I don't recall you saying...but what happened with your transmission problem??
my friends ford tauras sho has a 0 to 60 time of 7 secs the same as the stealth and he was killing me my zero to 60time is like 8.5 atleast. the 1/8 i dont remember cuz i was so mad that i threw my time slips away i even had a friend who has been drag racing for years take it down the track and the most we could get out of it was a 17.2 at 85mph. is it really sapose to be that slow this was all with the performance switch on and the over drive off and the car shifter it self. and is it really sapose to be that slow cuz im geting killed by completely stock v6 camaros they are runing 15.6's and they are automatics. could there be sumthing else wrong with my car cuz this thing is SLOW its not even fun to drive. i got killed by a saturn.
what i said was that when i bought the car 1991 es sohc 5 speed manual 210,000 miles i was running 17.7 or around that, with some perfection i went to 16.9 then i stoped racing and i rebuilt the engine, in the mean while i ordered je pistons, cams, i made 6 individual throttle bodies, etc. etc.and then i tested the car and the first time i ran it i got a 13.18 . So, yes, you can shave 1/2 second or mor but i would clean the injectors with ultra sound, and take off the throttle body and clean it with carb cleaner spray, you will really know the difference. of course change spark plugs(oem) , spark plug wireing, and rotor.
Wait a minute...?...Stealth, your car has a SOHC engine in it?? If so, your time of 13.18 is the fastest naturally aspirated Stealth/3000gt in North America...tell me you have some time slips to prove it..? Even more of an accomplishment considering the fastest (documented) NA to date runs a 14 flat and it has the DOHC engine in it. Did you use nitrous to achieve these times??
T4dude, your Stealth is not fast. My RT is not fast. My RT/TT is fast (for stock). The key is the twin turbos and AWD. You want to shave some time from your 1/4 mile...replace your motor mounts, give it a thorough tune up, do a compression check (to rule out any ring/valve problems...
Edit: Stealth, do you have any pictures of your engine bay...? I would love to see your throttle body set up.
stealth how much did all this run you because if it is less then 5k ill proly end up doing it. and as for the stealth i might be getn rid of it i found a 93 dayton shelby with only 67430miles on it and that thing runs in the 14's i love the stealtha nd would love to keep it but its just not fast enough for me
