You can't Build/Price these anymore on www.Dodge.com.

Its no longer listed under the Build/Price link...

Which is a shame, I am in the position of needing a new car, and I am looking at either the new Dodge Caliber, or the Chevy HHR... and then I found out about this new Nitro and realized it was Dodge's response to the HHR. Roughly the same size, and hopefully within the same price range.

If fact I was just on Dodge.com trying to find info on a Build/Price for the Nitro, could not find anything and so I came here to see if there was any information and saw this thread...

They pulled the build & price about 2 weeks ago. Prices were about 22 to 32 depending on options.Should be able to get a well equipped one around 26 to 28. depending on just how much stuff you want on it.

Well bah.

I was hoping these Nitro's would have been priced more competitively with the Chevy HHR.. under 20... was really hoping that this Nitro was Dodge's answer to that one. But 22 - 32... better off getting a bigger SUV at that price range... heck, thats the same price range as the Hummer H3.

Oh well... that rules the Nitro out of my budget.

Dodge is getting too expensive for me now... :(

Aww heck.. my local Dodge dealer is even selling some Durango's at that price range.

Whats the point in Dodge producing the Nitro at the same price as the Durango?

Thats stupid....

I agree, does seem a touch on the high side. I sent them an e-mail saying you can get a new durango or dak for that price. Hopefully they will think about it a bit by the time they release it.

Well, what it all comes down to is what it costs them to actually build one... maybe they'll just have to rethink the whole vehicle in general. It comes with a V6 I believe? The same 3.7L that was in my old '98 Dakota I think... so based on that, the Nitro's mileage would be roughly 15 - 20

So with that in mind, I'd rather go with the HHR with its 30 - 40 mileage on its 2 standard DOHC 4cyl engines.

Dodge needs to retool this Nitro to run on the same engine as the new Caliber if they want to sell it.

Today, mileage and a cheap price tag is everything.

The nitro is bigger then a HHR, theres a picture of one next to a Camander and the Nitro pretty big. The HHR was Chevy's awnser to the P.T. just slower and uglier, it's also about the size of the Caliber. The Nitro will have the 3.5L and 4.0L the Picifica has, well over 100 HP more then the HHR, you can accually tow something small with it, the HHR will never be able to do that. I feel the Nitro is for people how need a mini van but don't want a mini van.
