I called Magnaflow about it. The rep was quite cold and said they have heard about it before. I told him they need to modify Magnaflow's site to mention the DRONE PROBLEM in the 5.7 during MDS mode. He basically ignored my comment and said other folks who have bought Borla or others, have switched to Magnaflow because they are the quietest on the market, especially for the 5.7, is what he said. Also, he said they would not refund money, nor, did he indicate any help in anyway. I told him his attitude was horrible. Dead silence from him. Meanwhile, I have tore off the Magnaflow muffler (their Tru-X muffler) and replaced it with the stock resonator. Better, that DRONE is much quieter now. Has anyone tried Flowmaster 40s as the mufflers and Magnaflow's as the resonators? Remember, the stock resonator is in the front and the mufflers are in the back. Magnaflow is the muffler first, then the resonators in the back. By the way, if anyone wants the pretty chrome 2 1/2" Tru-X muffler from Magnaflow, give me an offer...

The Magna flows are actually quiter than a Flowmaster 40 hence I went with the Flowmasters. I personally use to run open headers back in high school so I like it loud but the combination of the trunk and the MDS makes it unbearable (okay I am getting older). But try adding a small non-restrictive glass pack ( I think they make a 6") in place of the stock resonator or do like I did and add a 12" after the Magna muffler. Make sure you use a silver galvanized muffler so it doesn't look cheesy. Good luck selling the Magnaflow tips on eBAY.

Thanks for the tip. I am now thinking of running Flowmaster 40's in front and those now very expensive Magnaflow chrome tips in the back. My current set up is the stock resonator in front, with the M/Fs in the back -- the MDS resonation is MUCH quieter now, and actually overall quieter than the stock Daytona system. I'm happy the MDS sound is now quieter, but the whole system could be a touch throatier. (I know, I know, I should have left it stock...) quote:

I take it you are happy with the Borla, did you get the system with the resonators or without? Thanks

I put a Borla on my '05 Magnum and was very happy with it. It hurt to see the nice, stock mufflers and resonators being tossed out but I did gain about 10hp in performance. There wasn't much of a sound increase and no noise at highway speeds. I've since traded the Magnum for an '06 Daytona Charger. The Daytona's stock exhaust sound is a bit throatier than the Borla's on the Magnum and as you know of course, the performance is superb on the Daytona. I don't think I'd ditch the stock exhaust on the Daytona. If anything I'd get some more stylish tips but that's about it. IMO the DC engineers knew what they were doing with the exhaust so I plan on leaving things as they are. FWIW my Daytona Ram has a Borla exhaust (stock from Dodge) and has a really deep sound. You know it means business. The nice thing is that it too has NO droning noise at highway speeds. -G-

Mine has Corsa with same result 0 drone. I went through cutting resos/Blastin Bobs (11db)/swapping muffler, droned at each mod until I put Corsa on.

My only experience with Corsa was on my son's '03 ZO6 Corvette -- and they were great! Good looks, but the SOUND was INCREDIBLE , especially when you'd get on it. Talk about smiles! However, here (hear) I go again, the highway tone was abit too much for me -- I wouldn't want to take it on a long, long trip. But CORSA makes a great system... You guys are right. I wish I could ride with you guys with your different systems -- hearing would be believing, instead of dumb sound clips from a $300 digital camera with a mini-microphone played through 2" computer speakers... For me, I'm running the stock "suitcase" resonator with the two M/F resonators with their 4" tips. It sounds good, has a very slight DRONE in V4 mode, but tolerable on trips. (With the stock system, you didn't hear the drone, but the stock system had a higher tone, not as deep as it is now). When I get on it now, it's has a nice deep throaty sound. It's a pretty good set up now. I get 28 MPG at 60, and a bit more than 23 MPG at 70, so it's not hurting my gas milage either the way it is now.
