Curiouser and curiouser...

Just and update to anyone who is still watching this thread.

I disconnected my battery for a bit as was dicussed earlier in the thread. Marked improvement but still not what I was hopeful for. Again the car runs wonderfully, just was dogging off the line even with the ESP off.

Next, I waited till I was near empty and filled with the wonderful CA 91 oct 'premium' fuel. I changed the FlashPaq to 91 performance with all the same trans settings, custom with torque reduction reduced and paddle shift hold. Well, immediately if ESP is off I can smoke the tires fairly well and it tends to get sideways if I let it. The only thing I can gather from this is that the FlashPaq programs differently if you choose 87 octane. Over all performace from the 'butt dyno' isn't much different but the trans is sure acting different.

So, did the new '91' programming make the difference? Did the fact that I keep driving and racking up mileage make the difference? I'm at 1500 miles now. Either way it is working/running well within my accepted parameters.

Zedd, yes, 91 octane allows for more timing and probably a quicker advance of that timing. On the old, carburated V-8s, depending on cam choice, we like ALL the timing to be advanced by anywhere from 2200 to 2500 rpms. Also, the more time you put on the engine (mileage) the better it will get - to a point. Sounds like its starting to come around. Just give it some time and it will be more of a BEAST!
