Default OBX limited slip

So I've been looking at parts online and see that OBX makes a limited slip for half the price of the quaife LSD. Anyone heard anything about how these do in the neon? I'm just curious, I don't really need it right now, but I might need one in the not so distant future.

Quaife Limited Slip Differential

OBX Limited Slip Differential

You'll have to scroll down to get to the OBX LSD, but it's there.

They offer the same lifetime warranty that Quaiffe does. I haven't heard anything negative on them since they became available.

I've hear you need to remove your snap rings off the axles; they get stuck in the lsd or could fail and break inside the lsd during use causing a mess. This is cause the obx lsd does not have a tapered edge in it to help compress the rings on their way out while the quaife does. Other than that I haven't heard anything else negative.

don't get the OBX one i've heard many bad reports about OBX's lsd i've heard good things about all of there other products but there LSD's will get stuck in ur tranny and u pretty much have to destroy it to get it out, then obx doesn't warrenty them. But that was with someone people i know with honda's i dunno how they are with the ones for the neons. I have a set of OBX coilovers on my plymouth colt and they're great best ebay item i ever bought LOL well kinda

These differentials have been proven to work but need a teardown and inspection and some new washers.

The axles are a tight fit but it can be fixed by honing them out a little after the bearings are pressed on. Some users have said that they fit better depending on how you clock the axle relative to the spline.

The other big problem is that the belleville washers in them crack and sometimes even arrive DOA. I am selling replacements for $16US or $17US to canada. Just send me a paypal for the money to rich_bryant_is(at)yahoo.com (replace the (at) with @ I am spam protecting myself a bit) and I will send them out ASAP.

See my description of the teardown here: OBX Differential Teardown

Overall for ~$450 with the washers it isn't a bad deal compared to the $1300 quaife.

BTW I actually get the opposite impression about OBX. Their Helical diff is often considered one of their only good products!
