Two weeks after I got my '05 with a V8, gas prices ballooned to over 3 bucks per gallon. The highest I paid was $3.19. It has came back down a little, but still hovers consistently between $2.50 to $2.75. I drive around 250 miles per week. Gonna keep my '05 for at least a year, but due to the consistently high gas prices I may consider trading down to something smaller once that year is up in August. So to answer the question in one word...NO.
Thats the only reason I got a V6.. however it probibly doesnt make much difference.. but yes I love it still. if you cant afford the gas, you shouldnt have bought the truck!
thank god for v6's and n2 for our tires, still getting around 20

Well L.I. gas prices are steep, and I feel it pretty bad with my (new) '05 V8 - but I love it so much I just don't care. This is the first thing I've ever owned that actually roars when I step on the gas pedal.Commuting to and from the train station yesterday, approx. 10-15 miles round trip, my fuel gauge went from 1/2 to 1/4( just about)!! it hurts BAD, but oh well.

Doesn't bother me at all, thats why I got a Dakota and not a full size.

I have alot of family and friends with full size trucks all diffrent makes and not one gets the milage my Dakota does. Heck my sister's S10 and step dads Ranger both V6's get around what my Dakota V8 gets.

I'll drive it the same amount I drive it now. I split time with my car. I only put gas in both about once a month. And it really doesn't matter. Whatever the price is ya gotta pay it so I'm just gonna put gas in it and drive. Its inflated and it pisses me off but I'm not going to let it keep me from driving what I want.
