Default Looking to buy a new non-GM car soon? Want to make $250?

DETROIT -- General Motors is willing to bet $250 that consumers will buy its cars and trucks in a new twist on its 24-Hour Test Drive program.

From Tuesday, June 8, through July 6, GM will pay $250 to test-drive participants who take a GM-brand vehicle home, then buy a non-GM vehicle before July 31.

GM says the program is aimed at getting non-GM owners to sample the automaker's products. It also will increase dealership traffic, GM says.

Under the 24-Hour Test Drive program, GM will only lend a car to a shopper who demonstrates the ability to buy the vehicle that he or she wants to borrow. Several GM vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Corvette and Cadillac XLR, are excluded
