The rear speakers are 6x9", fronts are 6.5" and any aftermarket speaker should fit fine. Do the 2nd gens have the tweeters in the dash like the 1st gens (3.5"?)? For 1st gens, the fronts are actually "6.5s", which has to do with the mounting bracket I think. The Pioneers I installed in mine didn't line up with the holes correctly and I had to modify to fit. Most aftermarket speakers take this into account though, and have holes predrilled for various setups. People have also used 5.25" and 6.75" for the door speakers (on 1st gens).
Best of luck!

I know nothing about cars or engines, at least according to Neon2.0T. Must be true then!
thats odd...i bought some 6.5's for my doos before and they were too small so i went and exchanged them for 6.75's and they fit perfect...but i guess that my car just has them like that and the rest and 6.5's
How do I get into the door to check the speakers?.
Does the speaker grill pop off like my old Saturn, or do I have to remove the whole door pannel like the wifes cursed cavalier?
... and how does one remove the pannel?
(02' second gen?)

Gotta remove the whole panel.
1) Remove the 3 philips head screws.
2) Pry along the sides and bottom to pop all of the fasteners off
3) Disconnect wires for power windows/mirrors (if equipped)
4) Remove the metal pieces that run from the door handle to the door latch
Then your door panel will come right off.
I just did this the other day and it was a piece of cake.
The only electric equipment on my Neon is the sterio. Which Im cool with, less to go wrong.
Since Im just getting to the speaker at the bottom, I wonder if I can just pop the bottom part of the doortrim and get at it from underneath......
I just want to find out "why" the speaker is making a horrible noise through the base frequencies. Sounds like something is stuck in there on the cone.
