Default Stereo Install Question

Installing a new stereo. I bought the adapter with for the system, but I'm guessing this isn't going to work with my truck. I can't get any sound out of my speakers. I'm guessing its something to do with the amp that the infinity system uses. How can I install the stereo and still use my stock speakers?

Hey Shaggy,
I think you may not have connected the blue wire from the head unit to the amp. That is the amp remote turn on. Not sure which wire at the amp is the one that turns the amp on. Just out of curiosity what Hu did you go with and which adapter? I'm looking to replace my Hu and use the OEM amp for a while. Think I'm going with a Pioneer DEH-P4800MP. Seems to have best all around features for the money.

I actually bought the Pioneer DEH-P4800MP. I agree for the money it seemed to have most of the features I wanted. The adapter I got was a Scosche CR02 wire harnes.

I'll see if I can figure out what wire is the remote and do that tonight. Driving around with no head unit sucks.

Default RE: Stereo Install Question

I'm at more of a loss than what I was. The Infinity system is driving me nuts. The plug for the stereo has the following wires.

2 Red = 12 V constant
2 Black = Ground
2 Green = I assume line in for the amp one negitive one positive
2 Grey = I assume line in for the amp one negitve one positive
1 White = no idea
1 White/Orange stripe = no idea.

The white I would assume to be a remote of some sort. If I check on the amp side with the factory head unit off and key off the White seems to have 12volts When the head unit is on and key on. The white seems to have no power and the white/orange sems to have 5 volts.

I have no idea how to get this to work. Its obvious that my adapter isn't going to work, but someone out there has to have done a head unit install with the factory system surely.

anyone?

Does the back of the stock head unit have a wire diagram, my Concords infinity system did. That should tell you what the remote wire is.

To do to the stock system youd need something like http://www.sfxaudio.com/products/dis...p?ProdId=80205
What it does is convert the lines out from your deck to lines in for the amp, you dont use the RCA's but the speaker outputs it provides. I'm not 100% certain it works with our systems but ive installed it in other premium audio setups and its usually come to something like this to make it work right.
Also the white & white/orange lines are the "turn on" leads...attached is a digram of the "premium" audio system

Drakkon,

If I'm not mistaken I think you may be wrong on the Wht and wht/or wires being remote turn on. These wire should actually be the high speed data bus (CAN B) used to connect the steering wheel radio controls, audio amp, uconnect, etc....

There doesn't appear to be a dedicated remote turn on lead. My guess is that the remote lead turn on is a multiplexed CAN message that is communicated to the infinity amp and it not an analog (discrete) input.

ShaggyBoiler,

If I'm right, I'm also note sure how you wake the amp up with out the CAN bus connected. You may have to direct drive the speakers from your new head unit and bypass the amp.

Disclaimer: All of the above could be completely wrong. But I am pretty familar with CAN networks and after reviewing the schematic in the Service Manual I think the above is true!

are you sure those white/orage arent supplying power? on the back of my preimium there is a sepearate control interface for the steering wheel radio controls, uconnect system. They might be the power to those systems though too. I very well could be mistaken though, but when i rewired my head unit i used one of the white/orange leads cause it had 12V being supplied.
