Loremo: The Ultra Efficient Car - 157MPG!

German Loremo AG will introduce their ultra Efficient Car at the Motor Show 2006 (site) in Geneva next week.

The car start-up developed a light-weight passenger car with outstanding aerodynamics. The Loremo LS is powered by a 2 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine with 20 hp and 160km/h top speed. The amazing thing is that the Loremo only needs 1.5l per 100km. This is approx. 157MPG!
The Toyota Prius hybrid has only 55MPG (combined city and highway).
With one tank (20l) you could drive 1,300km.

Loremo AG plans to sell the Loremo LS for less than 11,000 Euros (~$13,000).

This thing needs to hit the US. It looks fantastic!

How bout no... It looks like a totally screwed up Porshe...

Why is it that all these hybrid and efficient vehicles are to make my eyes bleed from disgust?

One more note... WOW at the 20 hp... Good luck getting on the interstate with that... 157 MPG might cost you your life if you try to get on the highway...

Good point, it might take while. I agree the car does look bad, but compared to other fuel efficient cars such as the Insight it looks great.

I agree, not a looker for sure...but it is better than the current offerings from Toyota and Honda...who would have thought the upside down bath tub look of a Porsche would be aerodynamic...

Do you have a governor on that Neon? My Avenger has nearly the same power and it's top speed is over 130. I get 28 city and 35 highway. If I could keep that power and double my economy I would be happy.

i had an automatic neon sxt. the highest i got it was 112 when i was already at 105 then started going down a hill. no governor, trust me i know how those things feel. i was driving from school to bestbuy (12 miles) no one on the road so i was flooring ti the whole way and it just wouldn't get higher then 105. when we got to best buy we opened the hood and that was the hottest engine i had ever been around.

Matt, why are you on a dodge site let alone a mod if you think that about American cars. come on now.

Everyone wants American cars to be better, and we all know they have potential, but they don't prove themselves worthy against cheaper competitors such as the Civic, car of the year and one the best examples possible. You know what I mean Nick? It's not dissing our brands..
