I didn't think that they offered a diesel until 1989?

Yes, it has a 6 cyl. 4L 243 cu. in. Mitsubishi non-turbo diesel...timing GEARS, came stock. I'll post pics of the engine sooon. Mine has a 727 auto in it, some came with a stick, apparently!

Are there some parts in particular that you are looking for the engine? I believe I do have some factory parts books that list this engine.

That's more or less correct, except it's a Cummins diesel. But he's talking about the other diesel, Vin code H, that came much earlier.

Cool find. Old dodge's aren't the most common, and you found a rare old diesel. Neat.

Oops, that had been a day with a test in half of my classes plus a four-hour shift. I'm still on the verge of snapping...

Which mistubishi motor is this I can't find any info on it. I know there were two types N/A (100hp)and turbo (120hp). 6cyl, 243 and 4.0l don't turn up many hits I'm looking for its actual designation. Is this a direct boltin to a chrysler automatic?

It's a Mitsubishi 6DR5, 3950 cc, or 3.9/4.0L. 105 HP at 3500 RPM. Check with a Mitsubishi dealer for more info. I would hope they would be able to help.

One of my neighbors when I was a teenager had one of these in a 4wd Dodge D150 pickup with a stick. Not a lot of power, but posted 21-22 mpg while gassers were lucky to get 14-15, back in the day.
