Default Grand Cherokee Bluetec Diesel for 2007

Rumor:

DaimlerChrysler contractors say that the 2007 Grand Cherokee will have a Bluetec diesel as an option at a 2007½ model.

Sources says that production will begin in mid November, with the first vehicles hitting the dealers in early 2007.

I don't know much about the new Bluetec Diesel but I don't think that the diesel is going to be in big demand.

Oh I think it will. With rising gas prices and consumers getting educated that diesels last longer, I think there will be a considerable amount of buyers for them. The idea may need a few years to catch on however.

Are there any numbers out on the engine?

I agree, it may take a little time to catch on, but I think it will fly pretty well.

This will only catch on if gas gets considerable more expensive than diesel. Right now diesel is more than gas. Most people only keep their cars 3-5 years anyway they could care less how long a diesel will last. Look at the liberty CRD. Sales are lackluster at best.

That 3-5 years fits perfectly when cars should start to have problems.

Hmm, a 3.2 v6 diesel on the new 320CDI? I wonder what is going to happen to their current inline 6 3.2 diesel? I prefer the inline 6 model!

Same here. It causes less friction and should last a little longer.
