Jet chip install

luvmydak -> Jet chip install (2/24/2006 10:58:11 AM)

Need input on this as installation instructions from Jet somewhat vague. ECM in '05 3.7L Dakota has 4 connectors. Jet says to install in the WHITE port, BUT, you have to disconnect all 4 harnesses, then remove the ECM from it's bracket to see which is the right(white) port to plug into. Appreciate info from anyone who has dealt with this.Thanks. JP

Just as a heads up, I've heard from other sites, that the Jet chip doesn't do much. I hope they're wrong. Let us know what you think.

if you search through threads you can find a link to get the 05 dakota manual that has the pinouts for, amoung other things, the ECM. I think that may help you in figuring out what your looking for?

did you get it installed? did it do much? stage 1 or 2?

luvmydak -> RE: Jet chip install (3/11/2006 8:28:13 AM)

Stage 1.Install took more time than I expected, but that was because I had to temporarily dissassemble the K&N air intake heatshield to get clear access to the ECM. After that it went pretty quick.Important: follow instructions exactly. The chip should sit solid in the ECM,if in any way loose, it's not installed right. Better, but not great improvement in throttle response, shifting seems smoother. Gas mileage? Depends how heavy your foot is. Your performance gains may be better depending on any mods you may have done.

installing the chip was easy. the white plug is second from the top. you dont have to pull out ecu, but unplug the negative battery cable before install.when finished start truck and shut off truck 3 times .this tells the ecu there is and upgrade.most people dont do this thats why they think the chip does little or nothing i installed a stge 2 and my truck gets beat everyday. running 91/93 octane catback and k/n

How much did the stage I cost?

luvmydak -> RE: Jet chip install (3/13/2006 8:54:18 PM)

$230.95 at AutoAnything.com

Do you have the part number? The only one it shows is for the V6. Summit racing has the same chip, or at least both stage 1 and 2 for a little bit more.

luvmydak -> RE: Jet chip install (3/14/2006 8:09:47 AM)

The part# for my V6 is 90401.

ssenay -> RE: Jet chip install (3/16/2006 6:17:31 PM)

so when you say your truck gets beat everyday its not worth it then? I have the flowmaster in right now and just the k & n filter (getting an airaid or k&n CAI soon) still wondering if i should bother with a chip or not at this point. I have the V-8 Magnum also.

DakotaStone -> RE: Jet chip install (3/16/2006 7:25:29 PM)

I just ordered one for my V8 through Summit Racing. I have the Air Raid CAI and a new exhaust (MagnaFlow) system. If you order one, wait until the CAI and get the Stage II.

superdak05 -> RE: Jet chip install (4/22/2006 12:15:25 PM)

what i met by getting beat is i drive it hard, not that i get beat racing

ssenay -> RE: Jet chip install (4/25/2006 9:56:17 PM)

i have the stage 2 and i dont think it did much now that ive been driving with it for a while. maybe its not working right? should i call jet and see if they can look at it?

superdak05 -> RE: Jet chip install (4/26/2006 10:20:13 AM)

make sure you are running 93 or better gas. also you need to have the other after market installs to achievie the most power. intake, exhaust, i also moved my iat closer to the filter so the sensor picks up more cooler air, a real cheap hrspwr fix, roller rockers when needed. 180 thermostat. also where you live with air elevation affects your system
