What is my dak - 2/21/2006 7:30:51 PM    xxelfxx   Posts: 37 Joined: 1/24/2006 Status: offline i have a 94 dakota with the 318 magnum i was looking at my truck today and my dad said it was a throttle body i thought it was a two barrel carb correct me if im wrong please thanks. Post #: 1

I'm not sure what year exactly they made the switch, possibly '91 was the last year or a carb or throttlebody type system. The gas is injected above the intake valve of each cyl which the ecm regulates.... the thing that you think is the throttlebody is just to control the air flow into the engine. I wouldn't replace multi port injection.. its a very good injection system. (in reply to 360DakotaPwr) Post #: 7

Check the voltage off the middle wire of the throttle position sensor. (Located on the throttle body on the left side, centered on the shaft) Do this with the key on in the run position without the engine running. It should be around .7 to .75 volts. If not, slot the holes on the sensor and turn it until it reaches those values, tighten up the screws. Better Air filter, possibly a K&N. (in reply to xxelfxx) Post #: 9

The gas squirts through the throttle body LIKE a carb. 1992 was the first year for multiport injection with a throttle body. That means there is an individual injector for each cylinder. RE: What is my dak - 3/8/2006 11:44:41 PM    codydakota   Posts: 309 Joined: 3/7/2006 Status: offline a '94 318 is multiport injection, throttle body injection was on pre magnum ('92 and older if i remember correctly), there should be a 'fuel rail' on each side of the intake manifold and semi under the air cleaner, on each rail should be 4 electriacl connectors, those connectors lead straight to your injectors, in other words 8 cylinders 8 injectors, don't know of any true carbuerated 318 daks.
