OK if the imports can use turbos & superchargers on thier engines why can't we ? take for instance Mitsubishi EVO lancer 2.0 liter engine makes 300 horse its turbo charged I Know, but why can a 2.0 liter handle the extra power & our 3.5 liter can't ,there has to be a reason imports can use forced induction either A 4 cl or a 6 cl they have turbo or superchargers under the hood. I think we should compare to the imports they must be doing something right , I feel a lil nervous when a Mits or Nissan pulls up to race ,whats under the hood then they rev it & the blow off valve sounds Psss well just lost this race !

First the use of Superchargers and Turbo has been used in American cars. Ford made the Superbird which was a supercharged V6 Thunderbird back in the early 80's. Pontiac makes still makes a supercharged car. Dodge made the 80's Shelby Charger which was a turbo. American cars can handle Superchargers, Turbo, and Blowers. You don't just through a supercharger or turbo on a factory engine. You have to take into consideration the compression ratio, the structure of the engine, and then ask your self can the drive train handle the extra power. You mentioned the EVO, yes the EVO is a 2.0L but the engine is not a standard lancer engine. The piston, crank, cams, are forged Vs cast which gives the engine the ability to handle more power. Also the compression ratio in the cylinder heads is dropped, which allows for more air. Also the EVO is not a standard lancer 2FWD car. The suspension and drive train are completely different, with sports tuned suspension, AWD and traction control. So when were looking at adding a supercharger or turbo to our cars we need to take all of this into consideration. I would not leave the factory exhaust and would recommend a larger air intake, maybe in a force air intake, larger throttle body, and defiantly stabilizer bars front and rear. You also will need to be prepared to void all manufacture warranties and extended warranties when making your modifications
