I have a 96 4x4, 3.9, At with 103,000 miles on it. I have changed the oil every 3000 miles and have done all the serviceing such as tune ups, service the transmission, ect .. The body is very soild execpt for a rusty bumper. I was wondering how many more miles I would get out of this puppy if I kept on maintaining like I do know. Also wondering how many miles were on other Dokotas out there.
with good maintenance you could get at least 100k more.mine is a 91 V8 4x4 and its got 185000 on it with no major problems just nuisance ones but nothing wrong with my engine.my brother has a 91 3.9L 4x4 that he bought for $1500 at auction .we checked on carfax and it had been sitting for 3 years in a field before he bought but it cranked right up and we got it home and did routine maintenance on it {belts,hoses,oil,filters,lubricate,headlights} and it runs like a dream with 150k on it. these dakotas are tough trucks i dont think a chevy or ford would be able to take that abuse and ive owned both.so you should get your moneys worth a lot over with yours.
my '92 has over 230k on the original motor and trans and both running strong. She burns a little oil, but that's about it. Accessories have gone out from time to time, but the engine it's self is solid as a rock.
My '96 has 116,000 on it.
I get about 15-17 mpg, depending on if I use cruise or not.
All I need to do to keep her happy is the 3,000 mile oil changes and keep the filters clean.
I haven't even done the 100,000 mile service yet.
My 92 has 191k miles on it. Some performance mods, all done much later in its lifetime. Burns oil, tranny rebuilt at 120k miles, crappy mileage these days. Working on a 360 swap right now.
My '95 Dakota has 202,000 miles on it and the tranny and engine work wonderfully. There has been the occasional fuel pump and the minor things, but it has been the most dependable vehicle in the family since we bought it new in 1995. (was my dad's, now mine). It burns oil but its solid.

My 3.9 had 140,000 on it before I switched to a 360. All I ever had to do was the ball joints and radiator, but that was right before the swap. I know a guy with a 91 that has close to 350,000 on his and all he's done major is a transmission rebuild and last I seen it had just started blowing smoke.
I have a 96 3.9 and it was solid up to around 270 000 km's. Around that time I had to replace the rad, steering coupler, had the tranny rebuilt, 02 sensor replaced, new cat, and a list of others... but I've been rough on the ol girl....
i have a 92 with 240kms i have replaced nothing yet 3.9l magnum 4x4 burns a little oil but only seems to do that when im goofing around in 4x4 or making her work exceptionally hard
