Default 3.55 vs. 3.92

I have a quick question.

Is there any noticable difference between the 3.55 and the 3.92 gearing in the Ram when you are not towing? I currently do not tow or haul too much but I will occasionally hook on to a trailer or haul a load of mulch or gravel once in a while. I now own a off-road and have 4.10 gears. I am thinking of buying a new Hemi and just wanted to know if I should get the 3.55 or the 3.92.

Thanks for the help.

3.92 gears will accelerate quicker. if the ram has the 20" wheels it will come with the 3.92 gears and anti-spin diff.

I have the 3.55 in my 94... I was under the impression the 3.92 is more of a 'dog' since it's the towing package...? (It's not a dog... it's awesome.) I just thought the 3.55 was faster...? Hehehe! Am I delirious?

What are you going to do with your 4:10s if you get the new truck??

If you have the option of taking them out and putting the stock ones in let me know

Ok here goes...there is a noticeable gas difference between the two...with the 3.92 axle you will notice the truck runnin at higher rpm's and therefor using more gas. an average of 1-2 mpg more. so to answer your question the 3.92 is made for haulin...the 3.55 is a cruisin gear that can tow but is a lil easier on gas. What is the trailer weight that you normally tow?

I would say that the total weight would be around 2 to 2 1/2 tons. This would only occur a few times a year. Also, is there a big difference in acceleration between the two axles?

ok here is where it gets fun...if you are talking about a hemi i would stick with the 3.55 it has all the power you need for what you haul and won't sacrifice gas milage...if it is the 4.7l v8 then go with the 3.92..the sheer difference in power between the two engines is the factor...yes you will notice the 3.92 take off a little better but is it worth takin a hit on gas mileage when gas is so expensive...so this is just my input and how i would present it to you if you were here buying it from me!
