I believe the 5.7 hemi is faster. I know people who have run 4.7s against 5.9s and have beat them. Not to say that they're slow because they're not. The motors technology is just different.

My money would be on a hemi ram, unless you're talking about a highway geared quad cab 3500. All things being equal though, the 5.9 isn't that quick. It's a torque motor, a real truck engine, and generates its power down low, whereas the 4.7 and 5.7 generate more of their power up top.

I'd love to see a Dakota R/T 5.9 drag race a Full size Ram Hemi!

I think I'd put my money on the Dakota only because of the
difference in weight.

It is all about weight. My old 2003 Dakota R/T std cab was only 4200lbs. How heavy is the lightest 2wd ram 1500 w/ a 5.7L? Got to be over 5000 lbs. It would have to be a 2wd, 5.7L manual, standard cab with a short bed. The best ¼ mile time I could get out of my bone stock 5.9 R/T was 15.08 @ 89 mph. I had a lot of Hemi ram owners try and race me all the time, but they all lost. All were 4wd or 4 door Ram trucks. I never raced the light ones. They were allways very pissed off when I beat them. One time this guy could not stop talking about how his truck was going to walk all over mine. We raced from two stop lights. I pulled a car length on him out of the hole both times. We raced again from a 30 mph roll, put a car length on him again by 60 mph. After that he just kept yelling with his head out the window that his truck would walk away from me on the freeway. I said no way was that heavy truck going to beat me. So I told him to lead the way to the freeway so I could follow him and shut him up, but he turned off the road to go home. He was driving a 2wd 5.7L ram with 4 doors and a short bed.

What is the best ¼ mile time someone has got out of their 2wd, 5.7L regular cab, short bed, manual 1500 Ram? I kinda want to know.

Apparently we should clarify, are we talking about an R/T 2wd Dak or a quad cab 4x4 Dak, or what? I believe my QC is actually heavier than my Ram.

I had a 1999Dak R/T CC and I have a Magnum R/T. My wife still has her 2000 Dak R/T CC. The Magnum is faster. Haven't raced my wife. Not going to (I'm not that stupid). "Dear, remember what you didn't get last night? Well, your not getting it tonight either."

I carry a gun, because a cop is too heavy to carry.

Well i have seen them race before and the Dakota R/T won. The Dakota had a aftermarket exhaust on it but that was it. If you look it up the R/T has a 0-60 in 6.8 seconds and the Ram does it in 7.0 and the faster you go the farther the ram falls behind because of weight and air resistance.

Ok, that's a 2wd, what about the 4wd ones?

Well with the 4x4 ram they will win off the line and then fall behind once traction is not an issue for the R/T. Another thing is the 4x4 ram will weigh about 500 more pounds then the the 2wd version.
