here is my thinking..for those of you who took the dodge poll..with the engine option pricing...my thoughts are as follows.
they said 3 grand upgrade for the 6.1L with a 6 speed...if that is true, then think about it..if the base price is X...then X+3,000 is the price of the 6.1L...if the car was 40,000 sticker, that means that the base model would be 37,000! even if the high end hemi was a 5,000 increase, still 35,000 for the base model? they wont sell ANY of them at that price....even at a 10,000 increase in price for the 6.1...30,000 for a v6 challenger? no thanks...
on the other hand, a viper isnt a good comparison..i could have had a 93 viper (no tops, no windows, no locks, no AC in 93) for 24,000...and the insurance was HUGE...
a 40,000 challenger had better have the 6.4L, and considerable factory performance mods...pricing it at 40,000 is more unreasonable than pricing the GTO at 35,000..and look how THAT turned out!

Not to mention the current 2006 GTO with a 6.0L V8 LS2 with 400hp is running around $31,990
As a former owner of 2 Challengers I really like the new Challenger as long as it looks like the concept car, has a manual tranny and it is priced reasonably. I hope its not priced like the Ram SRT10 or the Viper and Daimler Chrysler makes them more affordable to compete with the Mustang.
For 40,000 I could afford an origanl challenger with a hemi. I love the concept, but, christ man a used viper or vette would be just as much if not cheaper and still run the doors off of it.
