Default Muscle car sold, new Charger in the garage! NEW QUESTION ADDED!

I'm new here, but I joined because this looks like a forum of younger gearheads -- I need that, since I am registered at another forum and all the "old guys" like me are still talking about "classic" muscle cars of which I just sold mine -- and I'm glad. I sold my 1971 Tor Red Ply GTX 440 Hurst 4 speed car and bought the new 2006 Charger Daytona in Mango #2338. I have asked a hundred questions on the other forum and get no or hardly any response, because, I assume, they are older gear heads like me and don't know the new stuff. I can't ask my kids, who own STi's because they are in the "rice burners" and are kicking everyone with 4 and 6 cylinders, turbos, and nitrous... I got asked WHY I sold my GTX, if I was in my right mind. To tell you the truth, I was glad it's gone. This is why: it started when my son brought home a 2003 ZO6 Corvette. I thought it was nice, but, hey, I got a muscle car! Haw! We lined them up and the Vette was so far down the track by the time I hit third that my boy had lunch by the time I caught up. Oh, and he did it with the air conditioning on! His 350 (405 stock HP) CI engine slapped my 440 hard. The cab in the GTX would get hot in the summer from the 440s engine heat, making it miserable to drive. It was loud, fast (er, so I thought) and a beautiful car, but it was 35 years old and cars being cars, they are "just" hunks of metal and they all develop problems of some sort. Just look at the ratings at Consumer Reports sometime -- the older the car, the more problems. Now sitting in my new Dodge, it is a gorgous car, but the 5.7 Hemi is leaving me a bit wanting. I will never understand why Dodge didn't stuff the 6.1 into the Daytona package -- the car is beautiful and sure looks sooo much better than the SRT8's plain old black, red, or silver. (You can't tell a SRT8 from the SE a block away). Here is my plan: Maxx stainless steel headers, hi-flow cats, to a Magnaflow cat back system, then a K&N FIPK cold air intake, and a JET stage 2 chip. Later, the Comp Cam's XFI 268 cam. What do you guys (or gals) think of that system? I have also thought of Magna Charging it but I'm not sure about positive pressure on an engine equals longevity. Thanks for your thoughts, sorry I was so long. 1/31/06 ADDED: Question: I need help! (Maybe mental health). I have a line on buying a new 6.1 HEMI for my new Charger Daytona. Comes with a new ECU and in the shipping crate for $7,500. I was told it "simply" bolts in and away I go. Any thoughts on putting a 6.1 into my new car? Is it really THAT easy? I think it would be pretty cool myself... Barrett-Jackson here I come (just kidding!)

Glad to have ya bud! There are mods that you can do to the 5.7 to wake it up. You may be surprised at how much simply opening up the breathing in the way of CIA and exhaust mods will gain you for a smaller investment. Welcome!

I'll move this to the Charger section so some owners can help you out better =)
