Computer for the tranny, and or engine. Mounts. Wiring.
What year motor?
why would i have to have it for the motor or tranny both are from 1977 so the tranny shifts on its own... the only reason i can see to have it for the motor is ignition?? also with this swap will it sit there and have a check engine light on all the time?? also will it pass emissions??? what will i have to do to make it pass??
You are right ,no aspen ever need a computer. In fact not even a 90 needs a computer for the trans. And the ignition is best handled by the 77 setup. And if you us an aftermarket Ign box like a " Standard 101" it will rev to the limit of the cam
nice thanks for the info!!! so will it be easy to do the swap just mounts and exhaust?? also will the "computer" from the aspen work ok?? is there a place to bolt it on?? also with the tires on the dakota with the 3.55 gears and the tq904 what kinda rpm am i looking at on the highway cuz i know the wheels and tires on the aspen now its at 3,000rpm at 60mph!!! maybe i can get taller tires for the dakota to bring down the rpm's?!?!?
Yes as long as you keep out of the electronic trans range its cool. I wasnt sure what exactly you wanted to run. I meant that if you went with a 1990 dakota tranny.
You should not need any computers for 1977 stuff. If you go with 93 drivetrain, then you will need an engine/tranny computer. The trans for the most part is controlled by fluid pressure, but it would work best with the computer. As far as going with a carbourated motor, and electronic trans. I dont know. I couldnt tell you if the tranny would shift correctly with the engine not being injected. As for a non electric trans and an injected motor, you can do that. The best thing is to get a computer for the injected motor with a manual tranny, if you want to use the 77 trans behind the magnum motor.
