Ok so lets talk about air intakes, are the k&n , airraid and other tops brands really worth the $$. I see all kinds of intakes on ebay, they seem pretty similiar to me.
Heres one that seems like a better idea anyway : ebayanother

My questions is how can he sell those for less than $50! Hell, the K&N filter alone cost right around that. Then add in the cost of bending the pipe and chroming! He may very well be legit. But on the other hand he may be buying them a million at a shot or he jacked a couple semi's worth. Remember it is EBay!
Cause its trash and worthless all its doing is sucking in hot air. if its too good to be true, it is.
Spend the extra cash and get a real intake, one with proven results. Ebay trash is worthless even if it looks the same its not, the metal and filter an dlakc of heat shields are usualy what makes it worthless.
yeah thats what i figured. how do you guys like the airraid? also with the box being wide open like that, my concern is water, snow, dirt etc. will it suck in water?

The AirRaid intake won't take in any water (well, unless you drive your truck into hood deep water)
It's got the head shield on the side of the filter (and surrounding it), and then a seal on the top of the heat shield that is supposed to seal with the hood. Plus it uses the bottom of the factory air box...so no water is coming in that way either.
Same with the K&N intake, which I'm looking at getting, it's got the heat shield around the filter (to block heat &"elements) so the filter is tucked against the fender & "safe"
I think the airaid is awesome...i got it and seems like a pretty darn solid setup. When i took the car in for oil change last week my "service advisor" was like "glad to see someone choosing airaid instead of k&N"...found out he suggests airiad to all people who ask. Its also a little bit better than K&N in the filtration tests i've seen filtering out more dust than most.

FYI, I did buy the one on Ebay. I thought I'd give it a try. So far so good. I can tell a increase, I got the one with the K&N filter I'm makeing a heat sheild from the old intake. Should work very similar. I'll take some pics when I have it done.
