Does anyone think that Dodge will be smart enough to put a HEMI in the new dakota maybe as a new SRT truck or an rt edition? Or will it be available in the truck anyway.

That would be a total over kill. the 318 V-8 is a great engine for a truck it's size, the 360 was definetly a cool thing to have but not even remotlyt neccessary. I also think the dakot is not yet big enough for a Hemi. you saw how much bigger the 1500 Ram had to get before it would hold one (compfortably). Maybe if we wait a few years the daktoa will be just as large as a big Ford or Chevy, then it'll fit
I heard that they were coming out out with a SRT-8 in 2006. I heard they were going to put the 5.7 in the Dakota, the 6.1 in the Charger, and the 7.7 in the Viper and SRT-10....Sounds like a GOOD plan to me.[sm=smiley20.gif]

I would not want a hemi in my dakota. theres a reason they are mid sized trucks. As far as speed goes , a properly setup 318 can blow a hemi away, If you need HP to tow or haul stuff that often you should look into getting a Mack truck. Hemis do last forever (700,000) miles?) if you do all the maintenace on them religiously and use only the most expensive (reccomended) fluids and parts, any enigine could last that long. but so will a deisel engine, under normal conditions. I'm not even mentoining the henis extra stuff (sparkplugs and valves etc...). I think Hemis have thier place, but It sould definetly not be in a dakota.
