Default Any writeups on Engine removal?

I've got a 91 Dakota with a blown engine, was gonna stick a salvage in it. Was just gonna see if there were any writeups or something on engine removal/reinstall so I can avoid any snags.

It's pretty straight forward to be honest.....I dont think there's any writeups on this board but I've done a couple motor pulls myself.

B***est thing is make sure you disconnect all the wire harnesses and cables and hoses from the block. Get a engine lift and bolt it down to the block. Look for the various engine mount bolts....probably 6-8 of these, if you include the transmission bolts, maybe 10. Unbolt/disconnect the exhaust from the engine as well. Make sure to disconnect anything running to or attached to the transmission as well. Then have some people help you lift it out. I'd say 3 guys would be ideal....one to be under the truck, and two to lift.

Make sure before you lift the engine out....that you double check to look around and see if anything's attached here or there.

It's not a very descriptive how-to...but really its not all that heavily involved....

yeah I figured it would be pretty straight forward, was just wondering if there were any tricks or anything that may make it eaiser. Do you guys typicall pull the engine by itself or pull the tranny ith the engine? it's a manual.

depends on the car or truck, some are easier to pull with....others without...

I personally would pull the engine and trans separate to avoid messsing anything up. Some models the fuel line runs through a bracket that is bolted to the trans by the uppermost bellhousing bolt on the left side of the trans, so be carefull not to yank it out.
If you just have a blown motor then theave the tranny in there to help line everything up.
Like it was said, there arenot any real write ups on engine removal, every vehicle is different. Auto part stores sell Haynes manuals for your truck and they are taken straight from factory service manuals. They cover most questions you would have.
