Default Free Horsepower??

I have '93 Dakota, 2 wheel drive ext. cab with the 5.2 engine. I was just wondering if there is any free (or cheap) ways to get some extra power out of it? I've already dualed the exhaust with 2 1/4" pipe front to back using dynomax superturbo mufflers (no cats, and still using manifolds). And I have done the crank positioning sensor mod to advance the timing a little. As far as air intake, I just used a taller filter to lift the lid off the stock assembly about an inch and left the rest as is. Is there any other mods I can do?? Remember they have to be free or very inexpensive for the time being.

Thanks for your time
Shawn

Unbolt the sensor (2 allen head bolts), it's on the tranny housing right beside the block on the passenger side, directly behind the head. remove the steel gromets, from ther sensor, use some large washers, bolt back in, but slide the sensor as far to the passenger side as possible. It will advance the timing a couple of degrees. I noticed a small improvement in throttle response.

Have you blocked off your EGR valve?
Turn the top plate of your air cleaner upside down, let it suck even more air.
Open up the throttle body a few mm.
I run a colder plug than stock, it seems to react better. Autolite 3924.

i know this works on the 5.9s, not sure about the 5.2s, but if your truck has a/c, get a serpentine(sp?) belt for your truck but get the one that doesnt have the a/c so it skips that pulley and saves you a few HP

something really easy to do and not expensive at all. next time u go and give ur truck an oil change and tans. fluid ect.. use a brand called royal purple. i saw it in horsepower tv one day and just by changing the fluids he gained 9 horses.
