POOR MPG STILL< STILL< STILL

With 5200 miles on my '06 R/T RWD intown driving still yeilds only 14.5 - 15 MPG and believe me I've been driving with a very light foot trying to improve MPG. My '93 Seville V8 is getting 17.9MPG. I thought 13 years of technology improvements would have made this a no brainer. Yes the Caddy doesent make 340HP but still 13 years to improve MPG. Looks like the cool vanilla will hit the market this spring. Hope gas prices stay under $2.50/ until it get rid of it. By the way the dealer said everything is working properly

I haven't been too impressed with the MPG on my R/T AWD either. The window sticker says 17/24 and I'm struggling to get 18mpg with mostly highway driving.

My city mpg sucks too,
about 15 if all I do is city driving.
But I am pleased with the highway milage,
70 mph speed limits here, with a lot of hills and I get over 22. 23.5 if I drive clear to Houston 9a 120 mile trip)

Combined city and highway is 20.5
I drive 76 miles (33 each way) everyday that has 13 speed limit chanes. Speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down and I average the 20.5.

Unfortunatly for me the only time I hit a highway is on vacation. Everything is local driving.

My 05' RT has 14,000 miles on it now and I love my mileage. I have the electronics package and my dash display says I am averging 20 MPG! Can't ask for more than that, my highway MPG is about 24-25 MPG.

Yes, I do step on it every now and then, love that 340 HP!

There was a trhead back when that the engine is altered by the computer til something like 7000 miles, I think.

Also I normally get 19ish on average, one fill up I got 13. Looked around and all the tires were 10psi low from normal leaking and 50 degree temp change from spring to winter.

I say scr3w it. It is an incredibly impressive car to me, and I can't keep my foot off the gas.

(luckily I don't have a far commute)

I get 14.5mpg in my RT and think it's perfectly fine. My previous Ford Focus averaged 17mpg. I do almost exclusively city driving so I don't expect much in the way of mileage. I cruised around the city one morning with no traffic and average 20mpg, stop and go traffic and short trips will kill your mileage. By the way, the Focus would get 28mpg on the highway and the RT gets 24mpg on the highway.

It's too late now but you should have gotten a SXT if you wanted 18mpg, a figure I see reported by many owners as an average.

I've researched this quite a bit. I can baby the livin hell out of it, make people behind me all mad and basicly drive like I'm in my old slammed mini truck in 1988 and I can sometimes get a little over 15mpg. Or, I can drive it like I stole it, which is why I bought the thing, and get around 13.5.
Not trying to get to 16 is so much more fun.

I ran for 20 miles yesterday at 55mph and was getting around 24-25mpg. Does the mileage go that south when you run at 75mph because at highway speeds, I'm only getting 18-19mpg?
