jimboscomp, I think what GemmySan is referring to is replacing the whole thing with an LED panel/wafer and wiring it in directly.
What Disgorilla used , if i am correct, is just an LED cluster attached to an 1157 socket. This should not cause any problems. However if his intent is to replace the 1157 socket and wire the LED panel directly into his harness, he may have to purchase a load resistor as the load on a LED is very low.
Just trying to remember all the conversation that took place on a motorcycle site where folks were wanting to do the same thing. Here is a simple way to figure out the resistance you will need for the LEDs
