suspension and traction - 11/15/2005 3:45:17 PM    slghmr87   Posts: 38 Joined: 4/26/2005 Status: offline i have an '03 with stock suspension and transaxle. it's a daily driver and i don't intend on taking it to the track. although i can afford a lsd upgrade i would prefer recommendations on specific suspension parts that lower the car and add traction/handling. i installed s1 and the car is squirrely (wheel hop) when i launch it on the street. i would prefer to keep the ride as smooth as possible. i've ordered from modern performance in the past and am pleased with their service. please advise! A) stock motor mounts. are inserts or new mounts better? B) I would like to lower the car AND lessen the wheel hop C) I wouldn't mind a slightly harsher ride. the car is no longer a daily driver although I do intend on taking long road trips in the summer. RE: suspension and traction - 11/19/2005 10:19:57 AM    PSI Chick Posts: 4181 Joined: 5/5/2004 From: NY Status: offline new, soilid mounts are much better than inserts. those, combined with a set of solid lower control arm bushings should take care of 99% of your wheel hop. in terms of inproving performance, a set of coilovers and some sway bars are the way to go. i'm not sure how much you want to spend on suspension though. if not co's then a set of springs will work, but i have noticed the ride is harsher with springs than with co's. either way, a set of hotchkis sway bars should be in your future to help in the handling department. they make a huge difference. i know you said that you wanted to order from modern, but jegs has the cheapest prices on the sways. there are also other companies out there that have the same products for either the same price or cheaper, and seem to not have the issues with customer service that modern does. i've ordered from them a few times myself and never had a problem, but i have heard quite a few horror stories about them as well. _____________________________ psichick.net (in reply to slghmr87) Post #: 4

RE: suspension and traction - 11/19/2005 11:47:01 AM    PSI Chick Posts: 4181 Joined: 5/5/2004 From: NY Status: offline co's and springs will, but sways are a replacement piece that only helps with handling. the advantage of co's over springs when it comes to lowering is that you can decide on the ride height that you want. with springs you're stuck with whatever drop they have. with co's you can do a 1" drop, a 2" drop, drop the rear more than the front to even out the car and lessen the rake, or whatever you want. _____________________________ psichick.net (in reply to slghmr87) Post #: 6
