I'm thinking of trading in my 98 Ram 1500 sometime in December. I've just recently come across the Wrangler Golden Eagle. Does anyone have some pertinent and current info? I've gone to jeep.com and have only seen the "news" on it, nothing about price, options, etc. I was also looking at the Liberty CRD, but after reading a post here about that certain diesel engine, I decided against it. Thanks

Just one comment on the Golden Eagle......... Ugly!!! Saw one at the local dealer here in Ann Arbor, MI and I couldn't stop cringing. I think the willy's package that came out a lil over a year ago looked better than this thing. just my 2 cents.

Well, I haven't seen it yet. Didn't make it to the dealer during the Hazmat convention like I wanted to. Spent too much time drinking after the seminars. Anyway, what do you think is ugly about it? I have to admit that my first choice for a replacement vehicle is an '06 Ram 2500 w/ Cummins. But if I can't pull that deal off, I'm looking at the Wrangler Golden Eagle. In Green of course.

If it doesn't come with the V8, it's not worth it. I say nice attempt Jeep, but if we really want a Screaming Eagle, we can put one on ourselves. But then again, if I don't like it so much, I just won't buy one. I shouldn't complain.
A V-8 in the newer Wranglers just seems a little like overkill. Maybe a 4.7L would fit, but I don't much like that engine. From what I've seen, it looks difficult to work on. The 5.7 Hemi would probably transform the frame into a pretzel. Again, from what I've been able to find, the axles are Dana 44's with Lockers from the factory and the engine is the tried and true 4.0L I-6. The only weakness I can see is the transfer case. Chain driven. One would think they would have developed a newer Gear driven transfer case. Other than that, I like the rig, but it's going to be difficult to move from my 98 Ram to a Wrangler. We'll see.

my friend runs a 4x4 park and he has local dealers test out new trucks/suv's. he said the new wrangler came out not too long ago and tested. they were in that black out stealth stuff and came in on a flatbed. anyway long story short they are bad azz, he said they had no probs doing the level 1&2's. the hummer h2's came out and could hardly get through the 1's
