I hate to break this to you, but the 3.0L V6's are well known for oil leaks, if it doesn't now then it will soon. They mostly leak at the valve covers which isn't hard to fix. I have had 2 Shelby Z's with the 2.2L Turbo II.

The engine was just rebuilt, so it no longer has the oil problem, We redid all the internals with new rings..etc.

Runs smooth and no smoke at all :)

Great, I'm really glad to hear that.[sm=smiley20.gif]It should make for a good reliable engine then.

As well it should be. I sunk tons of money into my Shelby Z, but I still hated to let it go.[sm=smiley19.gif] I loved that car.

I love my daytona.. I hav always liked them since i FORST saw them on off all shows.. HUNTER!!! heheh His partner drives a red one/ maroon one.....but i have owned 5 hondas and 2 mazdas..this is my FIRST doemstic and its been very fun so far...

I must admit, its not as good in handling as my modded Accord nor civic..but there is just somehting about the LOW END torque you JUST cant get out of an Import under $30000 :D

Put the Shelby suspension on it and it will be a whole different car.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

DARKSUN -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/8/2004 11:28:37 AM)

DAMN, i juts bought some stock suspension shock and struts....

For Shelby conversion..what do i need? Lorco and canadian tire did not have a specific replacement part for that model. They only list 4cyl and 6cyl.

I am just guessing, Shocks, Strust, Springs...but will i need other things like antiroll bar..etc?

Hmm I wonder if they make a front and rear upeer tower Strut Bar to make the chassy stronger?

Forward Motion has stuff for the Daytona's, here's a link to them: Forward Motion

snappyjr -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/11/2004 6:30:37 PM)

This doesn't exactly sound like a "Roll Call" anymore people.... sheeeesh..[;)]... anyways..... I had a 1991 Daytona auto,.... long winded, but slow, and I ended up selling for like $250. because the motor knocked.... I just recently got a 1990 Daytona ES w/ the turbo and manual.... i bought it to play with as a kind of project.... the lights don't work (have thread about it actually) and the speedo is not functioning, OH and it needs paint, but i only paid $70. so i guess its all good in the end.....

71RoadRunner -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/12/2004 6:29:23 AM)

$70, yeah I'd say that it was worth it. I've never even come close to getting a car for $70, except for a '73 Challenger I almost got for $300, but he never got back in touch with me until it was gone.[sm=smiley19.gif][sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley7.gif]

VNTShelby90 -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/17/2004 2:01:07 PM)

I've had 3. An '86 Turbo Z, an '88 Shelby Z, and now a '90 Shelby VNT.

DARKSUN -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/17/2004 6:17:45 PM)

What does the Shelby "VNT" Stand for?

87Indy500 -> RE: How mnay daytona owners here?? ROLL CALL!! (5/17/2004 9:36:19 PM)

VNT = Variable Nozzle Turbo

It has an fluctuating wastegate that regulates the amount of exhaust that enters the turbine. Very efficient idea (Zero "0" turbo lag) but very temperamental at times.
