Default RE: resistor location

The resistor is on the passenger side of the firewall, It has two sheet metal screws that hold it in and there are five wires going to it. Try moving the plug around to make contact. Since its getting old the plug is probable brittle and corroded so be careful. You may need to find a new plug from a salvage vehicle if yours is broken. The seal between the cab and the resistor goes bad and water gets in there corroding it which in turn makes it get hotter than usual, melting the plug. This is a typical problem among crysler vehicles. NAPA sells them for about 10 bucks and the part # is BR-85. The resistor itself enables your blower motor to operate on variable speeds.
