Default Shutoff at 105 mph

As I was crusing down I-40 the other night in my 05 Ram 4.7 I decided to see what it would do. As I hit somewhere between 105-110 mph I lost power. I still had pedal to push. Has anyone else experienced this. Is it a computer chip thing or what ?

Welcome to the world of computer controlled speed limiting.

Depending on the individual truck, the factory limits the top speed from 105 to 112 mph. That figure depends on engine, tires and rear axle ratio.

Reprogramming with a superchips or hypertech programmer allows you to change the top speed limiter.

Good Luck

Mine seems to be drag limited. The motor still pulls, but just cant go any faster. Perhaps it is drag/comp controlled!

the computer I belive pulls timing to the point that you loose a bunch of power... it feels like your truck has topped out, which I guess if you look at it in the right way it has, but if you retune your truck it will go faster (probably 20-30 MPH)

I agree, I think it feels like I run out of gearing. Like peddeling you butt off on a bicycle in hill-climbing gear while on level ground. Just a whole lot of pumping for nothing.
