I'm looking at putting a K&N FIPK in my 06 Dakota 6 cyl. The problem I have is that K&N says that you'll only get a 6 hp gain. I'm open to opinions on this. Is is worth the time and money to put it in if I'm only going to get 6hp out of it? It does not sound like a good value.
Thanks.

You will notice the difference more than you realize. Matt is right about it being a great value, especially when you consider the fact that you will see an improvement in your fuel mileage. The filter will pay for itself in the money saved on gas. Believe me, I've done this to 5 cars now.

I would check other options before buying it. See what else is out there. AirRaid might also be a way for you to go. Check the systems out there before paying out a crap load of money.

Spend the fifty bucks on the filter. I just replaced my stock mopar air filter and put in the K&N and i drive about 60 miles a day. I swear burned only two gallons. It idles lower when in overdrive and if im going up a hill my rpm's are much lower. It's all around a good value. I recommend the filter.
There's a difference between the filter and the FIPK. The filter's the cheap 'n easy, it will give you 1-2mpg better, and maybe 1-2 hp better. The FIPK (fuel injection performance kit) I believe is listed to give about 7 extra hp at 4400rpm, although I haven't seen any stats about better mpg for the fipk.
I'd say, start with the filter (about $50 retail), go from there.
Does anyone know - will the FIPK void the engine warranty ? I know the filter won't, but will the FIPK?
k, so here's a question. Does it make sense to use a K&N Drop-in air filter with the intake charger, or does the intake thing make the air filter redundant?
Get the intake system. It'll allow your truck to breath a lot easier than just the filter itself. The stock box isn't built for higher volume of air as the Cold Air Intake is.
