Default 2001 Durango stiff steering

I have an 01 Durango SLT with a 5.9 engine. It has 45K on it. When I went to the store the other morning the steering seemed stiff. It was driving fine the night before. I checked the power steering fluid. It was fine. Serpintine is fine. Has any one experienced this? If not, does anyone have any ideas? Could a pump go bad but still give you some power steering?

Default RE: 2001 Durango stiff steering

I had my oil cap fall off (left on top of engine by car x "Pros") It got wedged in the steering arm and I could not turn left.......crazy. I didnt know what it was so I kept trying harder to turn then it cracked the cap in half and it fell on the gound......Crazy stuff, kinda scary when driving and tring to turn into a driveway......just thought I would share...
