i got a 4.7 ltr that shuts off at 97 mph which is a joke. how do you get by this? i talked to a dealer and they are stupid so i am desperate and any help would be helpful and a chip won't work. it just makes it get me to 97 mph faster then shuts off.

What you have is a "governor". And it does exactly what its name is. It lets you get all the way to 97mph and will not let you get any further. You need to take it out and the "problem" goes away. But, we don't know what your ride is so its going to be a little tough telling you how to take it out.
It's electronic. Chips usually take care of things like this. And seriously, why do you need to go faster? Unless you've built the motor and you're running 100+ mph in the 1/4 mile, I don't understand. 100 in a truck is plenty fast.

And theres a REASON that its there. 1. I doubt that he has the suspension redone to HANDLE speeds like that nor has tires rated for it. And 2 in most states over 100 is an automatic loss of license.
i don't realy go over the speed limit, but i do have information that you may fing useful.. supposevely the hypertech hyperpac, the worls first automotive computer, can remove the governor, adjust the speedometer for bigger or smaller tires, raise the rev limiter, calculate drag strips times, buit in diagnonostics, calculate horsepower and torque from engine and at the rear wheels and also does what the original hypertech programmer does, improve performance with regular or high octane fuel.. on a 4x6 inch touch screen computer.. and the only thing you have to do to install this, is plug it in you diagnostics port underneath you dash... this is real new.. the stock number is 533-85001, if i'm not mistaken... the price is around 799.99 .... if you ask me if it works good i don't know, i just saw the adds and the tv promos, and if it does what it say it does its worth the 800 bucks if you ask me....

... You either need to get a pre-programmed chip, or hook a "tuner" up, and clear it out -- something like a "Hyper-tech" programmer would do the trick. But, usually actually buying one of these (either the chip or the programmer) is fairly expensive (couple hundered dollars). Anywho, your best bet is to find someone who has something like a Hyper-tech, and ask them if they'll do ya a favor!
however the above posts do have a point - you might want to make sure your tires are speed-rated for the speeds you want to go. If they're not rated the centrifical force of the the spinning tire will pull itself apart, and having tread seperation and/or a blow out at 100+ mph is usually a bad thing.
